When you are asking for advice make sure to select the appropriate forum then try to be concise and to the point when describing your issue. Make sure you include enough details to give people a true representation of your issue. Guiding questions to help form your post may include answering the following types of questions:
- What is the main problem or issue? Finish the following sentence – I am in a situation where…
- When did the issue start happening or how long has the issue been going on?
- How is the issue impacting you?
- What have you tried to do in order to help solve the issue or problem?
Giving Advice…
To make this a workable forum and community, it is strongly suggested that when you are handing out advice that you endeavor to empathize with the person that is posting an issue. For example, put yourself in their place and imagine how you would feel if you were in their shoes… Maybe you have had a similar experience that you can share that may help? In many cases when a person runs into an issue they do not have to look far to find out that they are not alone…
There may be no immediate solution to the issue in question but knowing that we are not alone can often make all the difference to help us get through life’s challenges.
